Typically, store-bought bath bombs are loaded with artificial ingredients. These bath bombs are simple to make (feel free to get the kids involved!) and are so fun to use in the bathtub.

DIY Mermaid Bath Bomb Fizzies

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Epsom salts
  • 1/4 cup cream of tartar
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops of rose essential oil
  • 10 drops of chamomile essential oil
  • Blue and red or purple food coloring and teal or blue and green food coloring
  • 3/4 tablespoon water
  • Soap, candy or chocolate mold

Start by adding the baking soda to a medium sized bowl.
Then, add your cornstarch, Epsom salts, and cream of tartar. Stir the dry ingredients, and then add water.
Add the variety of essential oils – they make the tabs smell so good!

Separate ingredients equally into two bowls. Add purple or red and blue food coloring to first bowl and stir until desired coloring is achieved.
Repeat with teal or blue and green food coloring. (You can also make these your own with other drops of food coloring!)
Begin to layer colors into the mold. We layered half and half, but you can layer any way you like. Press down into old until tightly compacted. We used the gel food color jar.
Allow the tabs to harden for at least 2-3 hours. (overnight delivers some of the best results!)

Drop a few mermaid bath bomb fizzies into your warm bath water and relax!
These bath bombs are great for a stress-reliever after a crazy day, or for some extra colorful fun in the bathtub for the kiddos! Or, you can stick them in a mason jar to give as a gift.
