After seeing “Marshmallows for sore throats” all over Pinterest, I knew I had to try it. Here’s my experience with marshmallows for sore throats – do they work?
Last night I began feeling the beginning of a sore throat and a bit of a stuffy nose. This morning I woke up with my throat hurting terribly. I woke up (this is 4 AM) and did the only logical thing; I opened a bag of marshmallows (as any Pinterest fanatic would do). I stuffed about five mini marshmallows in my mouth, desperate to be able to at least breathe without my throat hurting.
Although the marshmallows did not magically make my sore throat go away, they did help tremendously. We take an allergy tablet that is kind of our “cure all” that ultimately helped the majority of my sore throat go away, but I know that I would not have been able to swallow that without the marshmallows.
So in short, yes, for me, marshmallows do work to some degree. For others, it works completely and for others, it doesn’t work at all. I would suggest you try it out and see if it works for you.
Have you tried the marshmallow trick before? What did you think?
Saw this on Pinterest…will definitely keep some marshmallows on hand to try when a sore throat creeps up on me!
What is your allergy tablet cure-all? No meds I have tried work for my sore throats so I’d love to try that, too! I’m in MI so Meijer is nearby 🙂
OH MY GOSH SO SORRY I just saw this! My meijer allergy tablet cure-all is a green box “12 Hour Allergy D” Meijer brand 🙂
LOL I haven’t seen this on Pinterest but I think someone is confused with Marshmallow root, the herb. But I think I would rather eat marshmallows! I certainly will not be sharing this with my husband because he is a marshmallow addict!
[…] adults for that matter), being sick won’t seem half so bad if that means they get to eat a marshmallow to soothe a sore throat. In fact, marshmallow is actually an herb used to relieve scratchy throats for thousands of years […]
