Diagramming Sentences Cheat Sheet

You’ve asked, I’ve (finally) answered! Learn how to diagram sentences with this easy breakdown! Diagramming sentences was one of my biggest struggles in elementary school. It was complex, and I never fully understood the different parts of speech until later. However, knowing how to diagram has helped me through college and has made me a better writer. Here is a Diagramming Sentences Cheat Sheet that covers 13 common portions of diagramming.

  • Subject
  • Verb
  • Articles
  • Adjectives
  • Adverbs
  • Conjunctions
  • Direct and indirect objects
  • Prepositional phrases
  • Predicate nouns and adjectives
  • Interjections
  • Appositives
  • Gerunds
  • Compound subjects and verbs
  • Compound adjectives
  • Infinitive phrases
  • Commands

For durability, laminate them or stick them in sheet protectors to put them in a binder.

I’ve also decided to offer a paid version in color. You can find it on Teachers Pay Teachers or my store.

Also don’t forget to check out my FREE Math Cheat Sheet, available in three different colors!

  1. HI, I LIKE YOUR IDEAS. HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THE CHEAT SHEET MATH AND DIAGRAMMING SENTENCES? TY

  2. Thank you for the free basic diagramming sheet. I think it will help my students immensely in the process of getting started. I expect them to advance quickly, now that I can show them the basics in a clear manner. However, the links on this site DO, in fact, “effect” (affect, I believe you meant) your reader. I have downloaded so much crap in an attempt to download the diagramming sheets, only to realize I had to add my email, THEN I’d see the “download now” button! Grrr!

  3. I have tried to get on the teacherspayteachers website. I never can get there. It usually tells me this site unavailable etc. I am very interested in this website because I tutor children from K-899th. Could you help, please?
